Visual Escapes and Daily Inspirations: Share Yours

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Mar 16, 2020

Let's create a space to offer a daily reprieve.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of uncertainty and fear into our lives. Some of that fear and uncertainty can be caused by over thinking what is going on or unnecessarily worrying. So, I'm making sure I wash my hands frequently, not touching my face, staying away from social gatherings and all of the recommended guidelines to help avoid getting or spreading COVID-19 but it can be a little boring. I try to not watch news all day long while I'm in this self imposed captivity. I like to take pictures of birds and other creatures from my window as a welcome break.

I invite you to join me in sharing pictures, favorite poems, sayings, mottos, funny moments. Let's take a daily break together.

Mean eye's name is Oreo. I found her about 15 years or so ago in a local vet hospital on a pedestal with 2 other kittens. I was there working on one of their computers and saw her - the runt of the litter. She was so unusual looking and when I picked her up she purred and I was hooked. Called the wife and took her home the same day. Funny thing after a week or so I got several calls asking me if I still wanted to keep her as 3 or 4 other folks came back and also wanted her. She's the only cat I've ever been able to teach how to play fetch although when she got tired she would just drop the trinket we were using and walk away. 🙂

Hey! I had a Siamese (largest of the liter) I named him LP ( little punk) I, at that time , had a habit of “ singing in the shower”. He would come in to visit (it’s a cat thing!) And join me by howling, like only a Siamese can do. L taught LP to tuck and roll (forward roll?) by grabbing his sides and he just knew. He was 21-23 lbs of cat. Will download a photo of Hobbes, our tabby and tell you the story on how we got him one of these days. I love a pet story 😊 Are you a computer geek?

Yikes! Talk about a rude awakening. Just looked out the window and it is snowing to beat the band along with wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph. Go away already!!! It's the 9th of April...and the birds have found a place to hunker down until this blows over hopefully around 2 pm this afternoon.

Oh the shores of Maui are calling me. Mother nature is playing with us all. No snow here, but a friend just sent a photo of snow falling in Boise, Idaho. Enough, already
