Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/

So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.

Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?

Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

My husband and I have a hilly climb in back of our house through beautiful woods. It was so gorgeous yesterday, the birds were singing and flowers were doing their best to open up their buds. Today is the same! I've also lost 7 lbs! I have changed my diet since isolating and it's worked!

@merpreb I found those pounds, if you'd like them back? I believe it is because my husband has been here for a month, and our meals are not the best for me. When he was gone, it was very easy to get by on just a little.
It has been stormy and cold last several days. Good day for a walk, but that will wait until tomorrow. We have a lot of errands to do as he leaves tomorrow morning for three weeks of contract work. Ah, time to lose those pounds you lent me ;))

Glad I had my walk before the Santa Ana wind starts blowing, now it's gusting, you can see all the flowers from trees floating in the air, high pollen count. To make it worse, the gardeners are using blowers everywhere, my patio is a mess, but I don't want to talk to them as they are not wearing masks. We're going to have temperatures in the 90s in the next few days.

Hi mayofev2020
Hi had a long walk in the gusting Santa Ana this a.m. telling Gardner’s what needed doing. .place is a mess again. Leaves all over.
Had another beautiful walk today from a large parking lot to an appliance store, appears my 6 year old top of the line washing Machine got terminally ill today.
Now I plan on taking a house walk after lunch, to see what else is going to break down.
If plans were to go on schedule, the dishwasher should of died first,
Mayofeb about that money tree any chance it’s growing $1,000.00 bills?
I’ll be happy to come and prune it for you.
Kind of a long walk down the 101 to 405, but with the wind against my back, I should be able to handle it.

@funcountess. The wind is hurting my money trees. It blew down the 5 feet one that's in a pot. The one in the planter is very sad looking. The tree trimmers are cutting down trees in our condo complex so it's dusty no matter where I go. Think I'll stay in and do some exercises with YouTube. Sorry about your appliances illness. My dishwasher died a while ago, but decided I can do without it, being that I live by myself and not too many dishes to do. My daughter told me her husband's colleague went to see friends and parents, and now this lady and her mother are both sick with covid.. Take care, don't get blown away by the wind. When I harvest my 1000 bills, I'll be happy to share!

Mayofeb2020,
Glad you are staying in with YouTube exercises. I’m doing exercises withMyPen. MyPen are very, very expensive exercises.
Are you sure your money trees do not need a slight trim. I have good looper shears, and regular pruning sheers.
With the wind against my back I should be able to walk the 101 to 405 in less then 6 months.
I called the manufacturer of my dead washing machine to tell them their appliances are nothing but junk.
After 6 years, and light use, it should not of broken. Bought a different brand this time.
Time for me to get back to MyPen exercises.
