Dr. Deepi Goyal, a Mayo Clinic emergency physician and regional chair of practice for Southeastern Minnesota, was infected with COVID-19 after his daughter was exposed at work and brought the virus home. Despite his best efforts to isolate and avoid contact, Dr. Goyal started experiencing COVID-19 symptoms on day nine of the recommended 10-day isolation period.

On today's Mayo Clinic Q&A podcast, Dr. Goyal shares his experience battling COVID-19 and offers tips for being prepared to quarantine at home when necessary.

To practice safe social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, this interview was conducted using video conferencing. The sound and video quality are representative of the technology used.

Excellent presentation and brought important advice and insights from a physician viewpoint who dealt with a COVID-19 quarantine. He mentioned how Mayo monitored his COVID 19 symptoms and vital signs(temperature, oxygen levels etc,) during his home quarantine via online link or app. Is that service available to me as a 76 year single occupant household? Can you provide me with information.

@badgerslover, I removed your personal email and phone number. Because Mayo Clinic Connect is a public forum, we recommend not sharing personal contact or identifying information. See the guidelines on staying safe online: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/page/about-connect/tab/community-guidelines/

You asked about the remote monitoring program at Mayo Clinic that Dr. Goyal used while quarantained at home. This is a program for Mayo patients enrolled in a remote monitoring program via the Mayo Clinic Center for Connected Care. Communication takes place through the patient portal using the Mayo Clinic app. You can read more about remote COVID monitoring program in these 2 articles:

Have you tested positive for COVID in the past 48 hours?

Thank you for reminding me to not provide my personal contact information such as phone and e-mail and will avoid this in the future. I did not want to imply I was under a quarantine for COVID 19 because I am not under a quarantine but simply inquiring to find out what resources exist that can be accessed via online or through apps to connect with my health care provider just in case. I now know that I have access through my Mayo Portal. Thank you again for the information on the remote monitoring links. from badgerslover
