Welcome to the Mayo Clinic’s Community Outreach and Engagement Research Services (COERS) blog. COERS partners with communities and works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute community outreach, engagement initiatives, and health equity research to address the needs of the communities we serve.

Community Advisory Board (CAB)

CABs guide, advise, and participate in health equity and CEnR activities to ensure that community input is included in all research activities.

The staff coordinates eight boards including:

  • Three (3) Site-Specific Community Engagement in Research (CEnR) Advisory Boards that include diverse community members who live in the cities where Mayo Clinic is physically located (Jacksonville, FL; Rochester, MN; Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ) and who provide local perspective, feedback, and guidance on community engagement in research efforts to ensure that community input is included throughout research activities, from idea development to discovery dissemination.
  • Three (3) Site-Specific Cancer Advisory Boards that include diverse community members who are cancer survivors, advocates, and/or caregivers are located where Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Centers are physically located (Jacksonville, FL; Rochester, MN; Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ). These boards provide guidance and input to the Cancer Center at each site to ensure that community cancer needs and priorities are included in the strategic direction of the site Cancer Center.
  • The Midwest Healthy Nations Advisory Board is an advisory board in the Midwest that provides guidance, input, and feedback on all health equity and community engagement in research initiatives in Native American communities in the Midwest.
  • The Florida Women’s Health Advisory Board is an advisory board in Florida that provides guidance, input, and feedback on health equity and community engagement in research initiatives focused on women’s health in Florida.
