Excluding skin cancers, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States, but it doesn't affect all communities the same. Due to factors such as barriers to screening, colorectal cancer is the second most common cancer among Latino/Hispanic men, and the third most common cancer among Latina/Hispanic women, according to the American Cancer Society.
Increasing knowledge and awareness about the importance of cancer screening and options for care are critical for improving cancer outcomes. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends regular colorectal screening beginning at age 45.
The Colorectal Cancer Blog is dedicated to raising awareness about the life-saving importance of early detection and empowering individuals with strategies to reduce risk—so that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in the face of cancer.
