Thanks. I had an appendectomy and my surgeon discovered cancer in the appendix. He recommendingsurgery to remove the small intestine as a preventative measure even though there is no evidence off a tumor in the colon. I am getting a second opinion from a medical oncologist.

@jam5, that is a personal decision for which there are several criteria. Mayo Clinic experts work as a team, thus you will get the same level of care and expertise regardless of location. You may choose location based on geographic proximity to where you live or if you have family close to one of the locations, weather, accommodation options, insurance networks, etc.

When requesting an appointment, be sure to let the coordinator know your preferences and that you have multiple conditions. They will help to find the right time and place to get the care best suited for you and where appointments may be available. If true, let them know that you are flexible.
