first time took 3 and half years to taper ... off of prednisone. ... came back and I went back on 20 mg prednisone ... find helpful:

It depends where you live and how easy it is to be seen by a rheumatologist....
a primary care doctor can probably manage ... to me but didn't manage my symptoms ... lasted 12 years before I was able to taper ... My PMR pain was managed well with prednisone ... managed by my primary care doctor.
