My last two attempts at tapering when below 5 mg ignited a swollen painful hands response....
I started out with classic pmr hip and ... to taper .5 mg every two weeks by alternating ... I've never had a rash from pmr or ... as a response to prednisone.

Okay, the pain (that comes from the swelling/inflammation) is secondary. Personally, if my PMR hadn't hurt,...
Personally, if my PMR hadn't hurt ... it usually does work for those with PMR ... If not Prednisone, other drugs. ... I was not offered any alternative medicines ... God, it works for you, and most with PMR

Thats a good question. But really depends on a lot of your particulars. Other auto immunes...
adrenal system is not damaged from the prednisone ... pain and inflammation restart your PMR ... back to 1mg for a few days then maybe alternate
