textbook I have says both PMR and GCA ... My aunt had GCA and was on high dosage ... discovered until very late in her treatment

@munchie, I really don't think anyone doctor or patient really knows the answer to your question....

or worse than the current standard treatment ... I cannot believe if you have GCA that ... they would not give you some treatment

You started on a high dose for someone with PMR! I started at 60 to treat...
I started at 60 to treat GCA and PMR ... appetite in the first few weeks I started treatment
