Feb 28, 2018 · Anyone here dealing with peripheral neuropathy? in Neuropathy

As you all know neuropathy can have many causes! My husbands neuropathy several years ago disappeared when he stopped a med he’d been on for a couple of years to prevent UTI’s that had not caused a problem in the first year or so! Since then 2 other totally unrelated meds have caused neuropathy so we feel it may be related to “fillers” that are used to produce meds! Look closely at all the meds you are on even those you’ve been on for a long time! When possible stop a med and see if neuropathy lessons after a couple of weeks. If it is a filler there is not a good way to figure that out!

I am an “old”RN and researched magnesium a couple of years ago. Magnesium Chloride is the best and comes in oral tablets but is hard to find and nasty to swallow if it stays on your tongue! I use a spray that is easy to make from Magnesium Chloride flakes that i order from Swanson. Most of us are deficient in Magnesium. Google Magnesium deficiency. It will be an interesting read. Hope this helps.

Your doctor sounds very experienced as well. What a blessing. I always pray daily for everyone facing physical issues so you would be included even tho I don’t know you. Patience, trust and faith will get you through this.

My sister had only one near her optic nerve and the best place to go is Mayo Clinic. The doctor that did her surgery was Van Gompel. He probably performs more of these in the optic area than anyone in the US! I am her RN sister and couldn’t have been more comfortable or impressed with her care. Get his opinion before you do anything. My sister is 74 and she had surgery 6 months ago and does not need to return to Mayo for a year.

Sorry I have no experience with the Bladder sling surgery. I hope someone else on Mayo Connect can help you. Mayo Connect is the GREATEST support place for just about any problem anyone might have! I would love to meet the person or persons that came up with the idea!

Sep 16, 2016 · female frequent urinary tract infections (UTIs) in Kidney & Bladder

Hello @ksey. I am an RN and female. Years ago when I had frequent UTI’s one thing I did was always urinate after intercourse. My husband has also been plagued with UTI’s and after I read everything I could find about them I came across D-Mannose. After he started taking it DAILY, either capsules or sprinkling about a teaspoon of D-Mannose on his cereal or drinking a teaspoon of the powder in a non -acidic liquid he has had only about one UTI or less per year!!! It is a simple sugar that prevents bacteria from “sticking” to the bladder wall. He also takes Cranberry capsules (he doesn’t like the juice!) You may need it 3 times a day to start with. We order ours from Swanson. Several other Mayo Connect members have found D-Mannose to help them immensely! I truly hope this is helpful.

Jul 22, 2016 · I have been on so many antidepressants over the past 35 years in Depression & Anxiety

I just read an article about DNA (cheek swab) testing to help determine the meds that should be tried first! Mayo Clinic was involved with this and it is often covered by insurance. I gave the article to my daughter so I don’t have details but can get them if necessary. One of the labs is near Chicago.

Jul 19, 2016 · Frequent UTI in Kidney & Bladder

Google (or any search engine) D-mannose and many sites will come up with a wide range of prices. I think that after a few months without a UTI you will be able to reduce the amount you take per day.and only increase it if you feel an infection starting. My husband also takes cranberry capsules daily and between the two has not had a UTI for over a year.
