When I had my IPAA surgery I had an Ostomy for about 90 days. Since I knew at the onset that I would have it for a limited time any discomfort was not a problem. My only real suggestion would be to keep yourself clean and use the powder to eliminate moisture. I would always take off the ostomy bag when I showered and that was nice respite. There are so many options for the ostomy bag if the usage is going to be a lifetime requirement that allow the wearer to be involved in a lot of activities.
