I have been diabetic for 15 or more years. My sugars have always run high but have now started dropping at various times and almost daily. 40's, 50's and 60's. No change in meds or eating. Have cut down on insulin and still drops. What could be causing this. I also have early stages of cirrhosis of the liver, could this have anything to do with the dropping?

On the Facebook Live Event about Diabetes, yesterday, we posted the following question: "For Type 2 diabetes what is a good rule of thumb for grams of carbs one should have at each meal and snack and maybe total daily calories?"
Here is what Dr. Bithika Thompson and Marilyn Bailey R.N. say:
"It is difficult to recommend daily calories without knowing your current weight/height and activity level. Consider making an appointment with a Registered Dietitian for specific guidelines. Generally speaking, most healthy women need about 45 grams /carbohydrate per meal and most healthy men need about 60 grams/meal. If a person chooses to snack, keep the carbohydrate content of that snack to about 15 grams carbohydrate."
