James Cox is a second-year doctoral student in organic chemistry at Princeton University, where he researches light-driven chemical reactions. James grew up in Orono, MN and attended the University of Minnesota for his undergraduate studies where he earned degrees in chemistry and Spanish. Though new to the carillon, having begun studying with Princeton’s carillonneur, Lisa Lonie, in 2019, James has a background in piano, organ, and marimba that stretches back to childhood. He is excited to perform this program as his very first (but hopefully not last) opportunity to play a Minnesota carillon.
