So you want to start a diet?  Here are some questions to ask yourself before starting:

  • Safe– Are the recommendations safe for you? Take into considerations any health conditions or medications you are taking. If you are unsure, discuss with your doctor before beginning.
  • Balanced – Does it provide me with balanced nutrition? The plan should include a variety of foods to ensure adequate nutrients and calories to nourish your body. In addition, it should promote other healthy lifestyle habits like sufficient physical activity and sleep.
  • Flexible – Does it also promote or celebrate small gradual steps of progress? Consider how easy the diet is to personalize to your preferences, lifestyle and budget. Extremely strict diets requiring perfection are unlikely to last long-term.
  • Sustainable – Lastly, but probably most importantly, is it a plan you can enjoy and sustain long-term? Will it support you in maintaining your weight loss over time?

Embarking on a wellness journey is just that…a journey. There will be ups and downs, but the key is moving in a forward direction. Find a plan that supports you and your goals.
