Nick ZerwasThe Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program for HLHS is excited to share that Nick Zerwas, State Representative in the Minnesota House of Representatives, will be a guest speaker at Feel the Beat 2014 on Saturday, Nov. 8., in Rochester, Minnesota. Nick will share his personal story of hope and what the future holds for congenital heart disease (CHD). You won't want to miss this! Don’t forget to register!

Here’s a little more about Nick.

“I am a lifelong resident of Elk River. My father, Tom Zerwas, was the Police Chief in Elk River from 1980-2003. I was born with a congenital heart defect, and my parents were told I would not live past 7 years old. I have had a total of 10 open heart surgeries; the last surgery was 7 years ago. While I have been told 6 different times that I have less than 6 months left to live, through the power of prayers and the advancements in medicine I am now feeling great!" -- Nick Zerwas
