Registered nurse, Emily Schad, discusses what a patient can expect on their first day of chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy (CAR-T cell therapy) at Mayo Clinic and why nurses are best equipped to help patients and their families.
"Sometimes it's those late night conversations, or addressing family members' concerns, where as RNs we are able to apply not only our extensive knowledge of CAR-T, but also our humanity to help patients and family members feel more comfortable," says Emily. "I think nurses at Mayo Clinic take treatment of the patient as a whole person one step further."
