A study published in the journal Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, where researchers focused on early-onset inflammatory bowel disease - eoIBD (refers to those patients under the age of 10 years), found that in contrast to adult-onset IBD, young patients tend to have more rare diseases which can be linked to problems with a specific gene. Dr. Michael Stephens, M.D., explains the benefits of targeted gene panel sequencing as an effective screening method for early-onset IBD.
