Tips from Dr. Donald Hensrud

By Aimalicia Staub, MSW, @aimaliciastaub

"Adults living along may eat the same thing over and over again because it's easy, or lose interest in cooking and eating for one.  So they end up on a 'cookies and milk' diet.  Having a broad spectrum of healthier choices available often helps nudge people to eat better.  The basics of not smoking, physical activity, eating a healthy diet, and managing weight, those four factors can affect health more than any other factors."  -- Donald Hensrud, M.D., Preventative Medicine Physician at Mayo Clinic's Rochester campus

Eat Smart

Dr. Hensrud,

So true – I try to have several different colors on my plate with each meal. It makes a difference in how I feel.

Thank you Dr Hensrud …. I don’t smoke, eat healthy diet that’s 50% of your 4 factors… have to try to do better with other half….
