Center for Humanities in Medicine

The Center for Humanities in Medicine supports Mayo Clinic’s primary value, the needs of the patient come first, by integrating the arts and other expressions of human culture into the healing environment.

The Center engages interconnected communities of patients, families, staff, learners, and the public to promote the artful and compassionate delivery of healthcare. Humanities in Medicine activities are open to Mayo Clinic patients, staff, visitors and community members and are made possible by the generous donations of grateful benefactors.

By Sarah Mensink, @samensink

A Dose of Art: Promoting Healing and Wellness

What: A free event that includes a panel presentation, lunch, and small group discussions

When: November 15, 2018, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Where: Hennepin Theatre Trust, 900 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403

In communities around Minnesota and elsewhere, caregivers and health practitioners are utilizing the power of the arts to help treat disease, improve health, and increase overall wellness.

Please join the University of Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Leadership program and Hennepin Theatre Trust for a convening of practitioners from a variety of disciplines to discuss the emerging field of art and health.

The half-day event includes a panel presentation followed by small group discussions where you'll have opportunities to exchange ideas and share lessons learned in a wide range of settings — from hospitals and clinics to private homes and community gatherings.

Presenters will share specific examples of how weaving the arts into their own practices leads to positive outcomes for their clients. You'll then engage in small group discussions to share tools and ideas.

The event is free and includes lunch. Reservations are required.
