Center for Humanities in Medicine

The Center for Humanities in Medicine supports Mayo Clinic’s primary value, the needs of the patient come first, by integrating the arts and other expressions of human culture into the healing environment.

The Center engages interconnected communities of patients, families, staff, learners, and the public to promote the artful and compassionate delivery of healthcare. Humanities in Medicine activities are open to Mayo Clinic patients, staff, visitors and community members and are made possible by the generous donations of grateful benefactors.

The Tempest 2020 | Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine Creative Arts Publication

By Sarah Mensink, @samensink

May 8, 2020: The Dolores Jean Lavins Center for Humanities in Medicine is proud to sponsor the 2020 volume of the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine Creative Arts Publication, The Tempest.

The Tempest is a collection of poetry, prose and visual art meant to illustrate the growth of a medical student into a medical professional. Each year, students submit work that is collected into the annual creative arts publication.

We are honored to have the opportunity to help foster original works by these future leaders in the practice of medicine.
