Member spotlights

Today marks the launch of Connect’s Member Spotlight feature — bi-weekly interviews with fellow Connect members.

Akin to the fireside chats U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt made famous for a relaxed, intimate atmosphere to get to know one another better, you’ll learn a little bit more about members you’ve connected with and maybe some you haven’t met yet. Get to know more about how they came to Connect and their experience with the community, as well as what helps brings balance to their lives and some fun facts about them like their favorite pastimes or preferences for puppies or kittens.

When community member and volunteer mentor @sandytoes14 suggested the idea for a Member Spotlight feature, fellow mentor @johnbishop jumped in to be co-editor and help oversee the initiative.

Member Spotlights are published regularly, starting with Connect volunteer mentors, followed by other active Connect members.

The first Member Spotlight connects you with @IndianaScott: Easing the burdens of caregivers. Scott is a Mayo Clinic Connect member and volunteer mentor from — you guessed it — Indiana. He helped establish the Caregivers group, sharing from his personal experiences caring for his wife during her illness with a brain tumor.

So, pull up a chair, follow the About Connect page and read about fellow members.

I like the welcome mat. This is a great community, sharing and caring. By giving help we are getting help. A key sign of PTSD recovery is the regained desire to help others.
