CLIMB Program in Florida Helps Cancer Patients Talk to Their Children

Mayo Clinic in Florida is excited to announce the new offering of CLIMB (Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery), a dual-support group for healthy children and their loved ones coping with cancer.

This supportive educational program is designed to teach children how to cope when someone they love has cancer. It is structured to include creative self-expression, art making, and discussion to help normalize feelings of sadness, anxiety, fear and anger, and nurture positive communication between the child and their loved one with cancer. Children will learn that they are not alone and will meet other children with similar experiences.

The companion support group teaches adults how to respond to feelings their children express, and provides strategies to help them and their children navigate their emotions throughout the cancer process.

A complimentary, kid-friendly, family-style meal will be shared at the start of each session.

The CLIMB program is offered at no cost to participants. Registration is limited, the first session begins April 9th at 5:30 p.m.
