The signs and symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not show up immediately. Symptoms can last for days, weeks or even longer. Common symptoms after a concussive traumatic brain injury are headache, loss of memory (amnesia) and confusion. An athlete with a suspected concussion should not return to play until he or she has been medically evaluated by a health care professional trained in evaluating and managing concussions. Mayo Clinic provides a comprehensive evaluation for diagnosis and management of concussions that includes specialist from Neurology, Neuropsychology, Audiology and others as needed.

I fell on 6/22/2021 and got a concussion. Since then I cannot drive in a car for more than 20 minutes without getting a headace and motion sickness, I can't go on the computer for more than 20 minutes or less without getting a terrible headache and nausea. I see my opthmologist tomorrow but does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of this awful symptom? It is seriously affecting my life. That's all I can write as the headache is back. thanks

@jmb73 Hi, Joan. Sorry to hear about your fall. What kind of treatment have you received since then? From what you say, it sounds to me like you need to be treated for TBI (traumatic brain injury) and see one of the specialists mentioned above. That would be my first step. Please write back. You say the computer is difficult for you, so short sentences are the way to go. Even if it’s just a list.
1. I saw a . . .
2. I went for a . . .
3. I feel . . .
Give yourself a break and keep it simple. I’ll stay tuned. Take care. Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,
I see my ophthamologist today and he asked for my CT's and MRi & MRA. Hopefully he can help me out.
Thanks, Joan

Oh, good. You've had a whole workup. I had a TBI when I was in my teens. Fall from a horse. I was in hospital for two weeks. That was around 1964. They knew very little then about TBI. It's a big deal when you experience a head injury, and I'm glad to hear you've got support. As for the headaches, I'd say rest is the most important thing. Take care, Suzanne

My othomologist did an extensive exam and said it's definitely not my eyes. I have contacted my PC for the name of a neurologist.

Oh Good! Did your previous scans give you any information on what may be going on?

All the docs say the symptoms can last for months. I have not contacted my neuro-surgeon but I think I will to at least tell him not to order an MRI in Oct. I have had Gamma surgery and have an MRI every year to monitor the meningioma. I don't know if he can help or if I just wait it out. My sister is having an 80th birthday cruise in June and I have until Feb. to cancel. Right now I couldn't go on it. Any ideas on how to get rid of the headaches and motion sickness? I had to take a Zofran for nausea at the eye docs in the waiting room as the light and noise was too much for me and a migraine pill after the exam. thanks, Joan

Hi Joan,
You've been getting great tips from @suzbyrne.
Here's more information about both concussion and traumatic brain injury from Mayo Clinic.
- Concussion https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/concussion/symptoms-causes/syc-20355594
- Traumatic brain injury https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/traumatic-brain-injury/symptoms-causes/syc-20378557

Rest and minimal screen time is important. So is getting proper diagnosis and rehabilitation. I recommend starting with the Brain Injury Association of America for guidance

Hi, Joan. Just got on and saw your response. Wow, you've been down a twisty trail. I looked up about Gamma surgery and meningioma so I've learned something. For starters, I'll ask one question at a time. That way you won't have to be on the computer too long.

Do you think your fall happened as a result of your meningioma symptoms? Looking forward to hearing back. Suzanne
