Welcome Kate, glad to hear you are doing well. Going for tests and bloodwork is always nerve racking. Hopefully you will continue to be clear. Recurrence is something we all live with. The operative word here is “live”. I ve recurred twice, currently in chemo, and have bounced back nicely. My longest remission was one year and I credit avastin for that. When I recurred I received carbo, taxol and avastin until my scans were clear then continued with monthly infusions of avastin. I had some side effects from the avastin, but generally felt well and appreciated the time away from chemo. My doc did have to put me on a high blood pressure med with avastin as that seems to be one of the most common side effects. I was also tired for a couple of days a,fete my infusion and sometimes had join pain. It is defiantly worth discussing with your doc. Best of luck to u. Joanne

I completed chemo in September. Had carbo, taxol and avastin. Have continued with the avastin every three weeks. I believe it is keeping me in remission, along with lots of prayer. It’s been eleven months and I’m feeling great. There are some side effects which do cause more problems for some the longer your on the drug. I started with a lot of joint pain when I was on all three drugs. Have some continued discomfort but can tolerate it just fine. The one thing that it does have a big impact on is my blood pressure. I’m now on three medications for HBP because of the avastin. Your doc ahould monitor that closely. At WI in RI they will stop avastin if pressure goes over 150. Overall I think it’s a great drug. Hi Rena, welcome to group. I also have stage four OVC. Was diagnosed two years ago. Wishing you the best. Another group you might want to check out is OCRFA.org. You can join their inspire group for women with OVC. Lots of members and good conversations. Keep in touch.

Go to the OCRFA web site. They sponsor the Inspire community. You can join the Ovarian cancer group and any others you are interested in. You can also “friend” specific people once you are a member. Some of these ladies are very knowledgable but like all sites, sometimes info that might not be completely accurate is posted. Just run everything by your doc. Be sure to read Friday’s posts by Rabbitgal. She is a hoot!

Hi Carole,
I also have OVC. I’m two and one half years out from my diagnosis and am stable. It is a diagnosis that is scary and as you said we need to be tough to deal with it, but we can live a full life. I wish you the best. If you are interested in connecting with other with OVC there is another online community I would recommend called Inspire. Joanne
