May 3, 2019 · Crohn's Disease - does cannabis help? in Digestive Health

Hi arick21, I read your post and wanted to reply. I also am a female in my 40 s who has Crohns Disease. I was diagnosed at age 25. Through this long journey of living with the disease for over 20 years, first I just wanted to say.. don’t give up in trying to find answers! I got help and second opinions at Mayo Rochester and it was totally worth it. The doctors there are so knowledgeable and kind and set me on the right path in terms of meds and healing. Also one thing I have seen over the years is that Crohns is a really individual disease. That means everyone’s Crohns is unique. I have two close girlfriends with Crohns and their disease is very different to mine. Yet here we all are with Crohns! So in summary, don’t give up, keep seeking your truth and answers. And know there are lots of other Crohnsies out there all with very different symptoms.. but suffering from this same inflammatory bowel disease!

Oct 13, 2017 · What are your suggestions for a quiet place to relax between appts? in Visiting Mayo Clinic

The Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program is a healing tranquil place to go in between appointments while at Mayo in Rochester, MN. They have yoga classes that open to the public (small fee) or you can actually book a relaxation therapy such as massage at Rejuvenate (also for a reasonable fee). Going to the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Center really helped give me an infusion of positive energy during mentally/physically challenging days. It’s very easy to find and is a lovely serene space.

Sep 18, 2017 · Video Q&A about Preparing to Run a Marathon in Men's Health

I have just been able to confidently run 10 miles while training and am competing in my first 5K this weekend. How on earth do I make the jump from running these moderate distances to marathon distances? Is there a training plan you recommend following? Or should I just keep running and gradually increase my training distances/ racing distances? I would love to be able to complete a marathon one day! Thanks

Sep 11, 2017 · #MayoClinicNeuroChat about Brain Tumors in Brain Tumor

Thank you so much for hosting a Brain Tumor chat. It is a gift to learn more about brain tumors from Mayo Clinic experts as they answer questions and discuss in depth this complex medical issue. Here are my questions for the chat.
1. Are very small benign (less than 1 cm) Meningioma Tumor’s ever mis-diagnosed, or does the location (in the dura matter) of the brain always make it just a meningioma?
2. Is there any value in decoding the genes in benign brain tumors, like there is in malignant brain tumors?
3. Why would the proton beam not always be the better option for brain tumor treatment considering it’s less invasive than all the other choices?
Thanks again for organizing this Brain Tumor chat.

Apr 6, 2017 · #AsktheMayoMom about IBD in Children in Digestive Health

Question: How severe should symptoms be in a child, before needing to pursue a medical evaluation AND if there is with one confirmed parent who has Crohns Disease? Is it better to wait until symptoms become severe? Or would milder but recurring symptoms warrant a need for evaluation? By milder symptoms I mean every 2-3 months an episode of diarrhea, cramping, stomach pain and sometimes vomiting. With that said, also what exactly are the lines between mild and more severe symptoms in a child with IBD? Also, does Mayo Clinic provide evaluations for kids (who live out of state) and on a self referral, who might want a medical evaluation for possible IBD?

Jun 7, 2016 · Specific Carbohydrate Diet in Digestive Health

Are their any scientific or medical studies on the SCD for IBD people? Has anyone here personally tried the SCD for IBD? Did it help any IBD symptoms? Can anyone explain the scientific discrepancies in the SCD diet such as OK to eat honey, but not maple syrup? Or Tabasco sauce is ok, but not natural hot sauce of any other brand? Many people claim to been helped or cured of IBD through the SCD, so that is why I bring this topic to discussion.
