I was referred to a shoe store that catered to diabetics. They had many brands of shoes but what was the clincher for me were the inserts that they had. Many different brands and degrees of firmness. So I found some shoes I liked …put in the inserts I felt were most comfortable and found some new comfort. Then I also bought inserts for some other shoes I had, so now my footwear is better for my problem. Still some pain but a great improvement. I am not a diabetic and they told me many of their customers are non diabetics who just have foot pain..
I am one of the many on this site with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy which is progressing very slowly. My story is not positive as I have tried many approaches and have found no real help. However, I do believe you must try most of the approaches because one may help you as it has someone else on this site. I tried nine different medicines, acupuncture, a cannabis regimine, various types of therapy, spinal stimulator, and various types of physical therapy. Some of the meds were helping slightly but the side effects were not tolerable to me. I am living with my condition….living with what I call the "new normal".
If you are a senior on Medicare there are funds available every year to pay for physical therapy appointments. A physical therapist can check for you as to the amount and help you manage those available funds to the fullest. A PT can show you exercises you can do on your own and also ones he/she can assist you doing. i am 90 years old and would be stiff as a board and confined to a nursing home if it weren't for the PT's in my life.
There was no help with pain while using the cannabis nor afterwards. The pharmacist had other regimens I could have tried….various combinations of the key cannabis parts—-and also forms of it to use—-but I opted out at that point. She was most helpful with suggesting new medicines for treating the nausea and constipation also. However at that point after nine meds and acupuncture I was ready to stop and live with my pain. I now have a power chair and am able to be around more in my senior housing complex. i am ninety years old and doctors felt that could have had affect on side problems.
