Mar 9, 2016 · Having a stress test because of issues of shortness of breath in Heart & Blood Health

Sorry for the delay.
Both my stress test and echo came back negative for any other problemtic issues. I did have a one big “flutter” of my heart while doung the stress test but my Cardio didnt seem to think it was of any concern when he saw it happen.
Currently I am on .25 mg of bisoprolol twice a day and although I still get the flutters, chest pain, pain in my legs and arms they say thats just part of svt. Im not sure I believe I have SVT as my heart only took off racing once. Its more the flutters that keep occurring. However they stand by that diagnosis. Its hard to deal with this for sure. I hate it bc I am always thinking a heart attack is right around the corner. That these pains in my arms and legs and in my chest dont happen with a flutter but rather all over the place and time. They feel as though this svt is due to stress/anxiety so my job is to try and curtail those instances. Hard to do when you never truly feel good anymore.
So right now Im on this path of trying to get better so that I feel better in hopes that this will go away. Not fun, but Im not going to let this rule my life either. Fun fun.

Feb 10, 2016 · Having a stress test because of issues of shortness of breath in Heart & Blood Health

Hi Papab,

I had my stress test this past Thursday and it was fairly easy even with my asthma. I was hooked up to an EKG the whole time and I was able to see everything my nurse and Cardiologist were seeing. From every skipped beat to the increase of my rate.
Every two minutes they would increase the grade and speed to get my heart to a target rate. They also monitored my blood pressure at each new interval. The last two minutes were the toughest for me breathing wise, but they were there to slow the treadmill at any time if I needed it.
Im still waiting on the results of my ECHO and stress test but from a first look my stress test looked ok.
The stress test is nothing to worry about. I hope you get some answers soon.
Take care
Jenn

Thank you for your help. I will hopefully have more answers after my tests next week. I do find the medication I am on currently helps so that provides some relief. Good luck to everyone!

I have heard so many comments about how ppl regret their ablations. That hasn’t even been discussed with me, but just the thought if it scares me bc you are the first person who had any luck with it. I keep hearing about further issues that arise bc of the ablation. I don’t know if I could do it. This SVT is scary enough. Not sure I could handle more being added to it.
Does anyone get chest pains randomly (even when you don’t think your having an episode)?

Do either of you know if this can reverse on its own? Because this came on all of a sudden, so I was hoping it would be something that could go away on its own as well.
Also anyone heard about the relation of SVT with gluten? I came across a blog yesterday and many of the people on there were attributing this to a gluten allergy/intolerance. Not sure about that one, but its worth researching I guess.

I hate how this makes me feel and my anxiety peaks when I have an episode which obviously makes it worse. I dont want to drive for any periods of time bc Im afraid I will be in the middle of no where when it happens and I feel like Im about to have a heart attack. Its taking over my life slowly and only adds to my anxiety issues. I wish it would just go away already.

Thank you both for sharing your stories. Makes me feel better that Im not the only one dealing with this – not that Im happy any of us have SVT.

Hi Colleen,

Thank you for leading me to those people/threads.
I am booked for an ECHO and Stress test on Feb 4 just to confirm that my
actual heart is healthy in light of this issue.
I have been put on a low dose of Bisoprolol and have been advised to change
my diet (no caffiene, increase water intake etc).

Not sure how much this will all help as Im sure most of this is due to
stress and unfortunately it is not something I can change or atleast not
for another 7 years.

Thank you for your help!

I was just diagnosed with SVT and can’t seem to find any discussions with regards to that diagnosis. It was suggested by my cardiologist to visit this site for information. Anyone able to help point me in the right direction as the search engine comes up with “no results”.
