Jun 2, 2015 · EMERGENCY TRAUMA: BROKEN RIBS, FLAIL CHEST, COLLAPSED LUNG in Bones, Joints & Muscles

I contracted RSD/CRPS when I had to have some ribs taken out in surgery so the doctors could reach a place in the center of my torso. After about 5 years, the pain started to let up a bit, but the pain is excruciating at times. Where they put the ribs back you can’t even touch it and I have to wear very soft clothing and use lightweight soft blankets in the bed at night and can no longer sleep with my spouse. On the Stanford objective pain scale 1 – 50 its a 43. RSD is the old name. CRPS is the new name of this pain disorder.

I have it and don’t do much about it as I have other worse pain conditions, but it’s the only one my mom has and I can see that it can cause quite severe pain. It was also the first pain disorder I got dxed with and it was painful.
