May 19, 2015 · Webinar: What Women Need to Know about Ovarian Cancer in Gynecologic Cancers

I have been experiencing severe pelvic/abdominal pain. My u/s and ct showed I have a small mass on my left ovary and one on my uterus (a small cyst in my liver) and my alpha feta protein test was abnormal, CA125 was normal. My doctor says there is nothing to worry about, I see my gyny on the 2nd June. My question is: can a doctor tell by my test results that the mass is benign? I am a 58 yr old female. I took HRT for 7 years stopped 1 year ago. The pain is increasing in severity now extending into my back and the groin area, I have had to stop work and am taking painkillers Tramadol 24/7. Thank you for you help.

Thank you for your reply. I have had a CT scan which showed what the ultrasound showed. I had CA125 which came back normal 11.4 kU/L. I guess I am more worried about the AFP and the fact that the pain is getting increasingly worse seems like each day and now I have pain which tracts across my tummy and into my back.

I have been suffering LLQ pain since January this year. I had an ultrasound which found left adnexa containing a 3.2 x 2.2 x 2.3cm mass. It is inseparable from the uterus. The uterus is 6.7cm long. A 15mm isoechoic fibroid is suggested in the anterior myometrial body. Endometrium is 3mm thick. The pain is getting worse and I am now taking Tramadol ER 200mg. My bloodwork came back with Alpha Feta Protein at 13.7 ug/l (normal range 0.00 – 9.0). My GP seems to think there is nothing to worry about, I have been referred to a Gyny who I see on the 2nd June. I am 58 years old, have taken HRT for 7 years. My question is should I be doing anything more about this? Thank you.
