where I come from sometimes we refer to them as Iowegians, but I suspect @jodeej might roll her eyes at that from her spot down south in Iowa. 🙂

Yesterday at church, for which I am grateful – spiritual sustenance and church family support, the pastor (who recently relocated from Florida to Minnesota), said "last year I was in 70 F weather in southern Florida, and now 'it's negative I'm going to die'." 😉 Really stinking cold is what I call it.

Reconnecting with gratitude today…yes, it is Friday. 🙂 The weather is temperate instead of frigid. My daughter goes back to school on Monday. My injuries are healing. I have plenty to do at work, and had a couple of successes (read praise) yesterday. Going to see my sister this weekend and finally pitch in on the parents' 'apartment' – sounds like in a few weeks they'll be up here. Meanwhile Medicare is still authorizing rehab post-stroke for my mother, so praying her good side gets stronger and in the paralyzed side the swelling goes down…and that my father stays calm and reasonable (well all of us I guess). Happy New Year folks!

@jodeej You can also find places that convert from your old tapes to a DVD for a few dollars a tape. That may end up being less expensive than buying a VCR, and probably will last longer.

I am grateful for the vision of your dinner! I made scones before church yesterday – a fun bag of mixed cherries, cranberries and golden raisins from Walmart got me inspired. Should have saved some home for myself – they were tasty – but grateful for the church family I have to share them with. My mother's brain bleed post stroke is gone completely, and dad and sibs are still all communicating fairly calmly about next steps. Yeah! Saw a wonderful Christmas program yesterday, and grateful for a job to go back to on Monday morning.

Grateful for this start to my day. I think I am going to enjoy being part of this group. Grateful that I was able to get to church last night, we've been sick and broken for a month. Grateful for moderate winter temps today and the coffee pot that's about ready in the breakroom. Happy Thursday.

My sister-in-law gains quite a bit of joy from volunteering at a shelter. When their dog died, that shelter work was especially good for her. And when she was ready, she was able to meet the dog she knew was supposed to come home with her. I have cats that were rescues as well. A few months apart in age, but brought them home together, and they get along great. Cats are easier to take care of than dogs, but they do better with a buddy I think, than alone – especially if you are away a lot of the day. Mostly our cats bring joy too, except when they are clawing holes in my Persian carpets. But art is meant to be seen, and rugs are meant to be used, so we just encourage them to use the cat tree (get a big one) and got a small scratch station for upstairs too. Grateful that I have a house where I can lay down my rugs, and for that matter, for the time abroad that got me to the rug merchant.
