Thanks for your response. My doctors said the Gabapentin could effect my speech, but they said nothing about my memory. I do appreciate your comments and I will do additional research. Unlike you, I do get exercise by cycling about 100 miles per week with a club and I have nerve loss in mu hands as well as my feet and lower legs. Balance is not good at all due to foot problems. Have you heard anything about loosing toe nails as part of this condition?

I was diagnosed withidiopathic (no diagnosed cause) peripheral neuropathy about 10 years ago and have most recently seen the head of neurology at Shands Medical center at University of Florida in Gainesville, FL; Dr Edward Valenstein. He left Shands about a year and a half ago and I have seen no specialist since that time. I am taking two vitamin b supplements and have been for 10 years. I also take Gabapentin and Tramodol daily to control the shooting pain in my feet. I am now experiencing a situation where two of my toenails are discolored and appear to be getting ready to fall off. Does anyone have experience or information about the onset of various effects one can expect from prolonged peripheral neuropathy?
