Fri, Sep 11 5:12pm · Removal of plate and screws from tibia fracture in Bones, Joints & Muscles

@jenniferhunter Cassidee also has a fixator Cage too. She also had 2 surgeries. Your's sounds worse. She can't put any weight on it for 6 to 8 weeks. Still waiting for insurance to ok rehab. If you feel nauseated after a surgery tell the anathesia (SP) doctor and he will put something in your IV that helps. They did a nerve block on Cassidee's first surgery, but not on her 2nd. The anesthesis (sp) thought they thought they should do one, but the surgeon didn't think so. She was in so much pain after the surgery, even the strongest med did not help. When I see that doctor again I'm going to comment to him not doing one.

She is doing better especially with the pain she had before. She's tired of being in the hospital. So far insurance won't cover Rehab. They are going to send a different doctor in to see her and write up a message for the insurance.

My daughter slipped off her horse and the horse stepped on her ankle. She had a compound tibia, the bone was sticking out of the skin. Her ankle was out of joint and her fabula had 3 breaks in it. He put a plate in with screws. He had two post that sticks out of her breaks to keep them in place. At lease they got her pain now, but we cannot go up and see her. I saw her before and after her 2 surgeries. The worse thing the surgeon said would be arthritis. So far her insurance has not covered rehab. They are having an outside doctor to see her and write something to the insurance. lilypaws

@quiteachiver75 My daughter was coming off her horse and sprained her ankle the horse step on it. She had a compound Tibia, which they f ixed that night, that was last Tuesday. They also fixed her ankle that was out. Tomorrow she has her second surgery to fix the tibula and screws and I don't know what else, her tibula was also fractured. They will clean it out real good. It's been the pits we can't see her, but I will be able to see her before surgery and after surgery. Please pray for her if you do so.

@ladytakash I/m not a doctor, but it sounds like you need fusion surgery, I had a fusion and stenosis surgery on June 9th. I now have no sciatic pain and hardly any other pain. Walking 1/4 Mile 2 times a day, so makes 1/2mile. I still do get tired if I do too much, I went to Mayo at Rochester, MN. Had an excellent surgeon. Sorry for your pain.

@bustrbrwn22 Good for you! My primary care sent a request for me and I got in pretty fast. I'm sorry you are in so much pain. Which Mayo are you going too? I went to the one in Rochester, MN. I had a 9 hr fusion from T-10 to my pelvis. On L-4 & 5 I had stenosis, which my surgeon also fixed. It was very painful at first, but they kept me comfortable with pain pills, but almost 3 months (on Sept. 9th) I wear a brace and my bones are soft so I have to give myself injections in my stomach every day, but the needle is so small you can hardly see it. I walk 1/4 to 1/2 mile every day in several walks, Think I will go further today. I had the most fantastic surgeon.

@bustrbrwn22 It sounds like to me that you need a fusion surgery. You should not be walking if it causes that much pain. I had pain similar to yours. Pain in my but and hip, sciatica down my leg and right foot. I had a 9 hour fusion done at Mayo Rochester. I also had stenosis in my L-4 and L5, which my surgeon fixed. My surgeon had to go from T-10 to my pelvis. I'm in a brace now and hardly have any pain. Have some pain when the brace is off. I can take it off when I lay down. It will be only 3 month on Sept. 9th. I walk 1/4 to 1/2 mile in several walks. I am so happy with the results. I had pain when I got home, but feel better now.

@marple@lioness Yes ,Chiropractors can be great for some people. It's something you could try. I was told by my primary doctor to not let a Chiropractor tough my neck it was so bad, so I just let him do my thoracic and Lumbar. It ended making me worse, but my husband goes all the time. I'm the person that had the 9 hour fusion surgery, from T-10 to my pelvis and also stenosis that was trapping a nerve or nerves. I wear a brace now and doing very well. I had the surgery on June 9th, so it's almost been 3 months. I walk 1/4 mile this morning, which my surgeon wants me to do. I will go out again, I'm suppose to go out often.
