Tue, Aug 25 3:34pm · Problems 3 months after colon resection surgery: Help in Colorectal Cancer

Hello I am 72 and had colon resection surgery in January for Diverticulosis also . Took me 3 months to recover but I am a slow healer . It left me with scar tissue on my left side. It is very painful . It is now August and I am still dealing with it daily . Doctors told me same thing they told you . My mistake was not asking a lot of questions. It is a very scary operation . I then had to have Gallbladder surgery on June 9th . Still having bad parents n on right side where surgery was done !!! I have been in constant pain since January 27th and I have vowed to never have another operation . Have appointment with Gastric Dr and Pain Management. So tired of dealing with the pain no kind of quality of life but thankful to God for His guiding hand everyday ! Hope you make the right decision. Wish I could be of more help to you . It is a tough surgery at least it was for me !!

Thank you…. I know there are so many out there a lot worse than me. I just need a break from all of this. My husband has a hernia that needs attention …but now we have to wait on possible Gallbladder surgery…..we will be able to look after one another.

Sun, May 17 11:54am · Sigmoid colon resection: What to expect for recovery? in Colorectal Cancer

I never had cancer thank God but I did have my Sigmoid colon removed plus some. I had mine Jan 27 and I am still having complications. But to get to the point …after mine I did the very same thing !! Very aggravating! Couldn’t go anywhere afraid of messing myself. But after drinking 8 oz of water with 1 Tbs of Metamucil everyday it has settled down and are normal. I am still having pain and discomfort on my left side. My doctor was not good at disclosure either he did not tell me a lot of things I went through. Did not know what to expect !! People need to know what to expect so they will know it is normal and not be so afraid that something is wrong ! I have been petrified that I will have to have more surgery and believe me I CANNOT GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN !! Pray you will get better it really takes awhile to get over this kind of surgery !!!!

I have them all the time in same area. My doctor says it is nerve pain and it will eventually go away. I had the same thing done on Jan.27 I was not as fortunate as you in recovery I am just now starting to feel a little like my old self. Too much to talk about to type in. Just say it has not been an easy journey for me. Hope it goes away usually no a heating pad or moist heat helped me a lot ! Best wishes to you

Thank you Virgo for this reply. I too feel that each of us are different and just have to adjust. I slept good last night too with NO nerve pain and little pain in stomach. I thank God for that ! Jitters just about gone , so I feel I am getting better by the day. If we all look back on how we felt a month ago, we could say we are much better than we were. I do try to walk everyday when it is nice out and not too cold. I live in N.C. and the weather changes everyday. I feel I have not regained all of my strength back, for it takes alot out of you. But that will come in time too. My outlook and overall attitude is much better. Have a wonderful day and thanks for your post .
