hI Abby! I am almost your age and I can imagine how hard it is for you to make all those life changes especially during all that is going on this year. I will be praying for you, Abby, and your wisdom in your decisions. Trust God to lead you (Proverbs 3:5-6), He will. I'm sure you are thankful that your family is closer to you and that you have a roof over your head. Here is a "word picture" for you from Max Lucado (author/pastor) In driving a car there is a reason why we spend a lot more time looking through the windshield than the rear view mirror." God Bless You, Abby. Sharon

It's hard to say "Be patient" when I know it's hard for you to be patient but the wheels of medical appointments especially during COVID do tend to move slowly but they will get back to you. Good news is that they will get back to you, it will probably be a video or phone appointment and it's not winter yet. Hang in there, stay busy and I am praying for you along with a lot of others.

Hi, even though I am not a doctor, therapist or medical professional, I can attest to the fact that depression can last for a long time and can have definite ups and downs, hills and valleys. I can also say that with the help of those professionals, you can find the right meds, therapies, groups and support of God and loved ones to live above that depression. I believe the key is to Never, Never Give Up! I am not just pontificating as my depression started when I was 18 and I am now 70. Does it last forever? I don't think so.

I know it's hard and winter is extra confining. I'm 70 and have that depression history. I make myself pick up my hobby and just accept the fact that I won't have a lot of communication with my husband. But my closest and best friend and communication is with Jesus through lots of time in His Word, reading and memorizing Scripture. Also a great way to get my mind off myself and my worries every day is to pick up a journal and pen and write down at least three things I am thankful for. A gratitude journal has been recommended by numerous people including my Psychiatrist!! You'll be glad you did!

Proverbs are great, too. Most verses are short and easy to memorize. As a matter of fact, the Lord impressed upon me to memorize Proverbs 3:5-6 a couple of years ago and it's amazing how often I repeat it to myself. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct you in all your paths." Also the Book of John is a wonderful comfort to learn or reassure you in your salvation in Jesus. God bless you in your journey.

II firmly believe the only way to "retrain my brain" is to soak it daily in the Word of God. Rise in the morning reading in the Psalms. Digest it during the day by memorizing and repeating verses in your mind replacing depressing thoughts. Go to bed at night thinking on His Word. Keep a Journal of Gratitude of things you are thankful for. Gradually you are retraining your brain with good thinking. By the way, I have been plagued with depression/meds since my early 20's-I'm 70! God's medicine is best!

Sat, Aug 8 10:36am · Importance of focusing on Positive with Depression & Anxiety. in Depression & Anxiety

Remember in being positive, that God's Word says in 1Thessalonians 5:18 – "in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." I continually try to remember to be thankful mentally and to keep a journal of thanks to God for everything. It graduallly re-programs my mind and spirit!
