Wow! It’s scary to think of having a large amount of your stomach removed. 🙁 But I am glad you seem to be improving! I have an appointment with the surgeon that did my surgery back in 2012. He is concerned about my symptoms. Not sure what he will say. I hope you have a speedy recovery!! Thanks for sharing

I am sorry to hear you are going through that. I have been having so much pain for a while now. I was told after my last gastric emptying study that I have severe gastroparesis but that not much you can do about it. I am not convinced my pain is all from my ulcer because they said it is small. I have had multiple Nissen surgeries and feel like I have never been the same since. I am on Sucralate twice a day which helps with the ulcer I think. Have they had you take anything other than prilosec? They have me on Protonix, Sucralate, and Zantac. I hope you can get some help soon!! Probiotics are so important when taking antibiotics

Well my gastric emptying study came back and it showed my stomach empties extremely slow. I was told there is nothing you can do for that except eat small meals several times a day. It is always something. I guess all I can do is treat the ulcer and see what happens. How is everyone doing?

Wow! I hope that you can get some answers too and some relief. I had my gastric emptying study today…I have had them in the past and it comes back normal but we will see.

@jobarbara I am sorry to hear of so many others having issues as well. 🙁 I was so surprised the barium swallow came back normal because I feel like I can feel the food going all the way down super slow and it is nauseating at times. Have you had one of those yet? @dstb83bb I agree. It is tough to explain to people at times.

I can't find my original post so sending this as a general question/second opinion. I have had 3 Nissen Fundoplication repairs to fix a large hiatal hernia that migrated to my chest cavity. The first two came undone within 1 year. The third time they did the repair and also a Wedge Gastroplasty to make my esophogus longer. I have had chronic nausea ever since but dealt with it without many issues. I continued to have to be on reflux meds due to this nausea. Went to a new GI since the past few months swallowing feels difficult or uncomfortable and have been having pain unrelated to eating meals. Hurt with meals and sometimes without. Had an EGD and they saw an ulcer and chronic gastritis. Nissen is in tact. Barium swallow showed no abnormalities. Now i am on meds for the ulcer, increased reflux meds, and on a bland diet until the end of next month when they check on the ulcer again. Has anyone else had this many issues with their stomach? I am starting to feel like it will never be better. It is always something every time. I have had to visit the ER several times for the pain. Any one have thoughts on this? Thanks!!

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. It is so frustrating to have gone through all of these surgeries and testing. It sounds like many have had issues after a Nissen. My barium swallow test came back normal and my endoscopy showed an ulcer. I go for gastric emptying next week and then I meet with my doctor again. No idea what will come of all of this. I started ulcer med last week but so far not feeling much difference. Still a lot of bloating and nausea with eating. Random sharp pains and same stuff I’ve been dealing with for a while now. The doc said it looked like my wrap was in tact but still wonder if it is too tight. Another thought I’m having is that maybe I’ve had so much done to my stomach that I’ve messed it up for good. :(. Has anyone else had other testing?
