If you have 150 beats and your cardiologist said anything above 120 should cause concern, I would definitely see my cardiologist. I hope you will do this ASAP.

You are taking 50mg twice a day? That's a very high dose? No wonder your heart rate is in the 40s.. How come your doctor is giving you such a high dose. I would question him about it. Is he a cardiologist? Does he know that it makes your heart rate in the 40s? You should ask him about this.. I always speak up with the my doctors. They are only human beings. They are not God.
How much metoprolol were you taking to slow your heart down to the 40s???? I take half of a 25mg pill which is 12.5mg. That's a low dose and my heart is between 62 and 68 beats. Maybe you were taking a higher dosage??
I had a fast and irregular heartbeat. The doctor prescribed a beta blocker (metoprolol) which brought down my heartbeat to between 62 and 66. I am surprised your doctor didn't prescribe any medication to slow down your heart.
