I am 60 years old, have osteoporosis, and have taken Fosamax for 6 months with no difficulty. I take it every Sunday morning with 12 ounces of water. Then I sit in the recliner (be sure to stay upright), check email, and watch TV or read for an hour. I also do not have anything for breakfast that contains calcium.

My doctors are recommending Prolia due to my severe osteoporosis. I have recently had a compression fracture, so treatment is very necessary. I'm also on Raloxifene as a breast cancer preventative and am wondering if Prolia and Raloxifene can be taken together. Do you happen to know? So glad you did not have any side effects.

Thank you. I am very active and have been for years and am still suffering the bone loss. My compression fracture does not keep me from being active, so I am very lucky, at least for now.

Thank you so much for your input. I have now experienced a slight compression fracture in the spine, but am still hesitant to take Prolia. My gut is telling me not to do it. Your experience just confirms that. There has to be another way!

You are one of the few I have seen who has done so well on Prolia. My doctors are encouraging me to use it, but I am scared to death due to so many people who have experienced terrible side effects. Do you have any advice for me?

I have had a recent compression fracture and the doctors are suggesting Prolia. I am terrified of this drug from everything I have heard others report. I have been on Evista since February, which is not really long enough I don't think, to see benefits. I do well on it and wondered if anyone here has had success with Evista/Raloxifene combined with low dose Fosamax. One doctor had me try Forteo, and I had a terrible reaction to it. No one seems to want to know why I am spilling calcium into my urine, either. Very frustrated!
