Jul 7, 2018 · Slow degradation of my vision. Seeing a retina specialist in Eye Conditions

Last September I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration on my left eye. I was going to school when I work full time as a medical coder, I spend long hours in front of computer. First, I thought I was having eye strain because of watching a computer monitor for a long time every day, but one day I noticed I saw a black circle in the middle with my left eye. I have had a cornea abrasion previously and had a similar vision change so I made an appointment with eye doctor. It tuned out I had Macular Degeneration. He said mine was a wet type which progresses rapidly. I am 54 years old, and he said 54 years old is young to have AMD but I got it because I am very near sighted. I got Lucentis injection and it helped to get some vision back. However, he told me there is no cure for Macular degeneration. My fear is whether my right eye would get it or not. He said there is possibility have both eyes…Last month I noticed my right eye vision started being very distorted. I called him right away. He said I got it on my right eye as well…I got Lucentisis injection on my right eye and doing ok for now. I have a great doctor and I am determined to do everything I can to slow the progression!! I am now looking for some clinical research on Wet type macular degeneration. Macular Degeneration is very scary, but I believe there will be a solution someday!!

Jul 7, 2018 · Tips on minimising withdrawal symptoms from Effexor (aka Venlafaxine) in Depression & Anxiety

I just wanted to give my update. First of all, thank you very much for the support!! I was so grateful that I have so many people out there who could understand what I was going through. Anyway so I spent that weekend in my bed fighting with nausea, headache, and dizziness. As many of you mentioned that it was too fast for me to quit taking Effexor and I agree..but I just did not want to take this med in my system anymore. By the middle of following week my nausea got much better and headache stopped. Right now my only issue is having light headed feeling here and there. My hot flashes and night sweats are back but I think I will find natural way to deal with it. I am planning to back to my exercise routine and better diet! Thank you very much for the support! And if you are going through withdrawal good luck. I hope you can beat it!!! Thank you!!

Jun 24, 2018 · Tips on minimising withdrawal symptoms from Effexor (aka Venlafaxine) in Depression & Anxiety

My doctor prescribed Effexor XR 37.5 mg to treat menopausal symptoms, especially irritability, hot flashes and night sweat. I was taking for about a year and half. I noticed that I am getting weight around my middle stomach and waist area. I learned Effexor could cause that extra pouch on stomach so I have decided to wean off. I went to talk to my doctor and she prescribed generic Venlafaxine IR 25mg and gave me a schedule: twice a day for week 1, once a day for week 2, every other day for week 3 and once a week for week 4 and off. I am now 5 days off med, The second day I started having feeling of walking in the cloud, nausea, and headache. The third day, nausea got really bad, and I also had emesis. I feel like I am having motion sickness, and hot flashes and chills every 5 minutes…I followed the schedule…..but wonder it was too fast…?? I might have to go back to take it again….but I am very scared can I ever get it off..??
