I am so sorry to hear that this happened to your daughter. I recently attended a presentation by a chiropractor who asked the audience what organ controls the whole body. He was fishing for "the brain" but I almost shouted out, "the thyroid!" Ha ha

PS I also wonder about drug interactions or too-high dosage?

I should mention that I've been required aby different insurances to have my thyroid checked every 3, 6, or 12 months. Most often is appropriate while dose is being adjusted. Be sure they do all the tests – T3, T4, and TSH, I think they're called.
Even after I specified this it was not done until I double-checked. It costs more so verify the results for yourself!

Been on 137mcg Levothyroxine @ 25 years. Only real problem was when PCP decided to suddenly drop dosage two increments, to 112mcg. Fingers were cold, depression escalated. Anxiety, nervousness escalated so that I lost my job!
Had it put back to 137mcg, with the suggestion that there be a step-up of 125mcg for a month, which was ignored. I seem OK now, after month back on 137mcg.

If you're not into electronic devices & apps, would it help to notice each month what the first date for your med is, and keep adding 5? If you started on the 3rd, your dates would be 3+5 = 8 (or, the 8th of the month) +5 = 13 (the 13th) +5 = 18 (the 18th) +5 = 25 (the 25th) +5 = 30 (the 30th). It sounds cumbersome in writing but some people would rather do a little math.
Sine the 4th of July fell on Wed., I've been saying to myself, Wed. the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th when a calendar wasn't handy..

@genmax:
When you wrote, "I wouldn’t even consider quoting platitudes to you." that came across as a "dig" or a "snipe" if you will, about my post. I do not feel that to be appropriate, if so. Perhaps it is just the medium? But since you seem to be a caring, concerned, involved post-er here – and on may other pages of Mayo Clinic Connect – I thought I would let you know. Perhaps doing so will help someone else in the future, whom you may impress like that on electronic media.
I un-followed this whole Group because of your post. I have major depression, and I had gotten fired that day. It was just too much. I'm happy to let you "take over".
I do not expect – or want – any reply or further comments. Still processing what I can't un-read.

The cartoon is not mine. It is from Looney Tunes. Sylvester the cat embarrasses his son, who put the bag over his head and says, "The shame of it all!" Reading @parus' most recent msg at the time, I thought this is how the writer might feel, I used it to try to communicate empathy.
I was diagnosed with MDD in 1999, 6 mos. after I got married. Soon divorced over incompatibility, nearly 20 years ago.
