Jul 26, 2018 · IT band syndrome after knee replacement in Joint Replacements

Is the pain behind your knee associated with the IT Syndrome? I have pain behind my knee that feels like it is full of liquid and when I bend it is squeezing that liquid and that hurts like crazy. I also have pain behind my knee when I walk that feels like a tendon, ligament or something is being stretched to its limit and then pops, then with my next steps it starts again. I was wondering if one of the two pains could be IT problems. If either of these is what you are experiencing, I have been having this pain since about week 8 and I am now about 16 weeks out and still have it.

Jul 12, 2018 · PT for TKR - Pain from stretching & Other rehab questions in Joint Replacements

I am about 4 months PO and have a pain like a tendon or ligament pulling and then snapping back of my knee. It started about 6-7 weeks, happens every time I go from sitting to standing, and starts about 10-15 minutes when I walk. Is this anything like you have? My OS doesn't seem concerned either, but by the end of the day it really is hurting. It seems like I traded one pain for another. I have really been working on strength exercises thinking maybe if I build my muscles up more it will stop. When I suggested to my OS that I see a different kind of doctor for it, he out and out told me no one's touches my knee except him. I politely as possible told him if it still hurts like it does at my 6 month checkup either he addresses it or I will be seeing another doctor. He believes by 6 months I shouldn't be having this problem. We shall is.

If you haven't gotten a second opinion, I would. No matter if you love and trust your OS it would not hurt to get a second pair of eyes on it.

Apr 24, 2018 · scar tissue after knee replacement in Joint Replacements

I am very interested in hearing how you ROM is going using this kinder, gentler PT. I told my pysical therapist that I do not want him to hurt me when he stetches me. Mainly because he doesn't stop as soon as I say enough. So now he has me pushing myself and he watches. At home I use gravity to bend and stretch. I haven't been to PT since Friday, (go back tomorrow) and my bend and stretch is the same when I get up and when I go to bed. When PT was forcing everything by the time I went to bed I couldn't bend or straighten my knee for the swelling. Please post back how it is going for you.

Apr 12, 2018 · Left TKR ice or heat in Bones, Joints & Muscles

Thanks guys. Just to let you know I soak in hot water for about 15 minutes before I go to PT. I really don't know if it is the right thing to do or not. Yesterday was the first time time I did it and my PT said it looked like my knee finally gave and I might be over the hump. I iced after PT. So it helped me. But last night was the worse night I have had since replacement. Did the heat and loosening everything up make me go to far in PT? I don't know. Today, I still have a good bend and stretch, which usually the day after PT falls back quite a bit. I am not telling anyone to do what I am doing just passing on what seems to help me. I will try heat and ice Friday before I go to PT, and depending on my night, will decide weather to continue or not.

Thanks, if you are having your other knee done, it must really get better. Right now I am lending to wishing I never did this. But my leg was starting to bow and I knew it had to be done.

Hey all. Do you use ice or heat on your knee and leg. Before surgery heat was my go to, but I didn't have much swelling, mostly pain. Now at 3and1/2 weeks I have swelling and some pain and I know heat would feel so good. But, I do not want to make the swelling worse. Thanks

Apr 3, 2018 · Foot problems after TKR in Bones, Joints & Muscles

After talking with my PT, he agrees my foot is swollen and causing me problems because I am using muscles, joints, etc in ways I haven't in many years. Also since I pulled that calf muscle I am not completely walking correctly cause of the pain in my calf. I am in a bit of a catch 22. I need to stretch my leg so I can get it to lay flat but I am not suppose to stretch my calf muscle so it can heal. I also judge myself by how well my husband did with his TKR. He was at 115 bend and -1 straight the day after surgery. I am 2 and 1/2 weeks and have 95 bend and 14 straight, which is just about how it was before surgery. I can tell I am bending it a little easier everyday so there is some improvement.
