Hello all, My IVF process was fairly quick once my specialist & I made the decision to go for it. I've had multiple laparoscopies over the years, had a hysterosalpingogram (where the make sure your fallopian tubes are open), tried IUI twice, & nothing worked. After being pumped full of hormones with the 2 IUI failures, I took a step back for a few months to clear my head & my body so that I could make a good decision about IVF. I even changed jobs during that time so that I had insurance coverage for the IVF process. From there, it was trips to the Chicago area 3 times/week for ultrasound after ultrasound, many shots of hormones, then once I was ready for retrieval, I went back to Chicago & was thrilled to have 18 eggs. In the end, I had 4 strong blastocysts & decided with the help of my doctor to go ahead & put 2 in – they both "took" on my first try!! So, I was 33 & pregnant with twins. My pregnancy could have gone better but only because I had the most severe form of morning sickness you can have. I literally threw up from mid February til early September, stayed overnight in the hospital for dehydration a couple of times, but other than that, it was an exciting time! I had my twins at 37 weeks weighing in at 5 1/2 lbs & 7 1/2 lbs respectively. To anyone afraid to make that step, I encourage you to take the leap of faith. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
