What part of you are they MRI'ing?

Sat, Mar 14 7:17am · Study opportunity: Seeking volunteers with type 2 diabetes and painful peripheral neuropathy in Adult Pain Medicine

I have severe lumbar stenosis and osteoarthritis. I am also DM 2, with stage 4 CKD. The lumbar pain is debilitating frequently. I have a slight amount of numbness in my left foot and neuropathy in both thighs. Would I be a candidate for this procedure? Thank you very much. P.S. I also have 2 autoimmune diseases — giant cell Arteritis and polymyalgia rheumatica and am on a fairly low dose of prednisone (6 mg.)

Dave, the answer to all of your questions is YES. What do you think that means? Look forward to hearing from you.

Sounds like you need venous sampling on both of your adrenal. This test will tell the doctors (and you!) what your true hormone levels are. It's really a vital, albeit expensive test.

If you don't mind my asking, what eyedrops were you using? I have used Restasis for over 5 years, and have wondered about side effects long-term. I also have or had Cushing's syndrome, but mine was due to adrenal tumor, which was removed last October, but still have Cushing's symptoms.

Belated birthday greetings, and glad to hear you are doing well. Your GFR increase must make you feel very good!

Feb 10, 2018 · Diet for diabetes and stage 4 CKD - very confusing. in Kidney & Bladder

Thank you, @cehunt57, for telling me your story. It is very helpful. Do you mind if I ask your age? My nephrologist hasn’t discussed any of this. I’m beginning to realize that his main focus is on his current dialysis patients. He has said nothing about diet; my gfr is around 21, and he has not even mentioned dialysis or transplant at this point. He is the department head at a large university medical center! I think I will have to be more assertive. My father wasn’t diabetic, but died from ESRD after 4 years on dialysis. Thanks again for your input.

Feb 9, 2018 · New confused diabetic in Diabetes/Endocrine System

The diabetes info is very interesting. I was not familiar with the “dawn phenomenon” ; however, my confusion is due primarily to the fact that I have stage 4 kidney disease also, and the two diets rad
radically oppose each other in many ways. I need to set up another appt. with dietitian/nutritionist to get on track.
