I feel so similar to you! I started on 20mg of Prednisone 18 months ago. Im now down to 6mg. But, I still feel a lot of discomfort, especially in my legs. I find myself taking Tylonal 1 at least once a day. My rheumatologist advised that when I have a relapse, it is totally safe to go straight back to 20mg, but only for 2 or 3 days, to reset everything, then back to where ever I was. I havent dont this yet, but am very tempted. I only reduced to 6 from 7 one week ago, and now wonder if I should have. But, I do notice each time I reduce that I have a week or so of not feeling well, and then it seems to adjust. Good luck to you!
I have a question for others as well……For those of you that have reduced to 3mg or less, do you still feel side effects? I must say, I dont think I have any now at 6mg, or maybe I am just so darned used to it I dont notice! My thought is, that if I get down under 5mg, that maybe it doesnt matter if I have to stay there??? thoughts??

Hi Barry
Mine started 2 years ago the same way. I was the most active woman i knew…travelling solo to India and Kenya…had my own business..building rock walls and gardens..etc etc. Then such a sudden screatching halt! The pain from head to toe, debilitating fatigue, i couldnt even bend over. 20 mg of prednisone and voila! I was back to myslf. I have been trying to reduce ever since and am now at 7mg. Today i am in pain but will take a T3 and that will clear up the day without upping the pred. I dont know that i will ever get completely off it, but i take comfort in knowing the side effects under about 9mg are negligible. I tòo have pain in my fingers and cant wear rings anymore because of the swelling. But
…..i give thanks everyday that it is not worse…and that it is not life threatening. Good luck with your reduction! I hope one day to be off it too!

If you buy curcumin capsules instead of turmeric you may find a different. Curcumin is the condensed form of turmeric. Good luck!

Thank you !   That makes me feel better.  I am out of the country until next week  and will see my dr.then.   I have only been on prednisone for one month,  at 20mg.   My thought was if I had developed GIA that the dose I am taking should take care of

it for now.   I have had pain in my temples then this morning woke up with jaw pain.   Nothing terrible, but enough to concern me.    Thank you again for replying!

Can anyone tell me if they have developed Giant Cell Arteritis?    I understand that can happen with PMR.     I am on vacation and am fearful it is happening.      Thank you for any input.

Thank you for your input Roland. Are you finding 7.5mg per day is enough to keep the pain away? I will definitely speak to my Dr. as I feel she is trying to taper off too quickly.
