Tue, Sep 10 10:34am · Had a biopsy done recently - they want to do another one! in Prostate Cancer

At 46 years old I started 3 years of biopsies and by the third year felt like a hunted animal. At the same time my PSA was rising to 7 or above. Once a positive finding for cancer was determined, only then did I undergo a prostatectomy. I’ll admit this was a very trying time for me. The diagnostic biopsies although uncomfortable, I felt the bigger issue was determining the course of action when the biopsies was positive. That was 34 years ago, and still cancer free.

I’m a caregiver to my wife and we learned that replacing “I’m sorry” with “Thank you” changed the dynamics for both of us.

I’m a caregiver, and I lurk more than post. A vented frustration is good input for me. I may not add to what is being said, but your posting helps me, and hopefully others. Thank you

Dec 11, 2018 · Prostatectomy in Prostate Cancer

Hi,
I’m 72 and had the RPA surgery when I was 49 at Mayo Rochester, and I am still cancer free. If you experience post surgical long term effects (impotence, inconvenience etc.) there are many things they can assist to return you to an acceptable quality of life. They were there for us and we look back with no regrets. Good luck
