Dec 19, 2017 · Has anyone had sharp thigh pain after hip replacement in Joint Replacements

Hi.. I had THR on 10/25/17.. all went well. Was home after 2 nights in hospital.. I had ANTERIOR approach. My hip felt great within a week… was able to walk with and without cane… but I overdid it too soon… go slow with the recovery but make sure to do rehab exercises EVERY DAY AND FOR THE PRESCRIBED NUMBER OF TIMES….As the hip was healing however, my outer thigh was totally numb and swollen as was the incision site… I was told my doctors Physician assistant that the numbness and muscular pain in the thigh could last as long as 6-12 months…? I was feeling down after 6 weeks but am starting to see swelling go down and numbness disappearing… just make sure to ice and after a few weeks add moist heat with a bed buddy…everyone is different but I’m pleased with everything especially NO PAUN IN HIP… good luck on yours..

Nov 29, 2017 · Outer Thigh numbness, tingling and burning in Bones, Joints & Muscles

Hi…I had an anterior right hip replacement on 10/25/17……5 weeks home I can easily get around on a cane and now no cane…I am a healthy 67 year old male with no other health issues……My concern however is that my outer thigh on the repaired leg is still very numb and tingles and sometimes burns….I can feel deep pain underneath the skin if massaged and I’m just concerned if this condition of numbness will go away or am I going to have this forever…I also have swelling and hardness to the right of the incision which is also troublesome to me…Am I expecting too much too soon?
