Nov 11, 2017 · Inability to stop diarrhea in Digestive Health

Went to the Dr. this week. He renewed my pain medication for my back pain. Take 1 pill every night to get to sleep. The bonus is it continues to regulate my diarrhea so that I can say I am now normal! Nice side affect! I don’t worry about becoming addicted since I only take 1 pill/day.

I, too, was diagnosed with Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia in June, 2015. It’s scary. It never goes away. I would love to correspond with you. I am on watch and wait, better known as worry and wait. I have my labs done every 3 mos. and go to my oncologist every 6 mos. Thus far, I am stable. My cancer is indolent. You need to get in touch with the International Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia Foundation (IWMF). They have been my life support throughout this whole ordeal. I wish you the best. I know what you’re going through.

I have a girlfriend who has Sjogren Syndrome and was also diagnosed with WM. From my understanding, those who have Sjogrens have an increased chance of getting WM. I am so sorry for your accident. Glad you made it out all right. Try to focus on the positives. I just recently had the birth of my 10th grandchild, the first one who looks like my side of the family. I have so much to be thankful for and to live for. My aunt (dad’s sister) has WM & she’s 90 yrs. old! So it’s not a death sentence. My diagnosis came from an annual checkup with some funny numbers causing me to keep going back in for more labs. After 3 months, my Dr. called me & referred me to my present oncologist/hemotologist. More tests ended with a bone marrow biopsy. The rest is history. Got a second opinion at UofM. Every ache & pain is blamed on WM. My Dr. finally put me at ease when he said, “These indolent cancers really shouldn’t be called cancers, even though that’s what they are. But actually they are more like chronic illnesses that you learn to live with.” All of a sudden, a lightbulb turned on & I saw my cancer in a new way. I hope some of this makes sense. It still is troubling that I have this cancer, but I do see that my life has so much more to offer. I’ll be praying for you and hope you stay in touch.

I’ve be plagued with daily diarrhea for several years. Lost some weight, not as much as you. Never knew when it would hit. Can’t ever make plans for my mornings. Like you, out of 7 days, I would have diarrhea 5 days, sometimes up to 10 times/day. Went to the Dr. He wanted to run the same tests I had 2 years ago. All came back normal except the bills! I did my own doctoring instead. Went lactose free a couple of yrs. ago. Started glutton free. There was some improvement, but not totally. Last month, I pulled out my back for the first time in my life. I took some opioids to get me to sleep at night. Usually, one pill always constipated me & I’d stop. Instead, it stopped my diarrhea! A miracle! I feel so much better. I know I can’t stay on the pain meds forever, but I’m just sharing with you what worked for me. Wish you the best. I know what you’re going thru.

I am so sorry. I wish I could say something that would make a difference. My hobby is cooking. Imagine my shock when I learned that I can no longer tolerate many of the foods I cherish. I’m getting over it ’cause I’m tired of being sick. In 2008, we retired & moved up to the upper part of Michigan. We started growing & raising all our own food. I knew the food we were eating wasn’t the food mom made 50-60 years ago. So I figured I couldn’t go wrong in my own organic farming methods. But the damage was already done. Downstate we lived in a farming area where crops were sprayed, chemicals from the local Ford plants were dumped, jet planes flying overhead every 5 minutes to the airport, cars billowing out pollution, you get the picture. I’ve always stayed at the same weight as I was in 8th grade. Yeah, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma & the rest is history. My health is deteriorating, but I am determined to fight back. I try to stay active. I try to eat healthy, knowing that everything I buy from the grocery store is susceptible to who-knows-what. Try to remain positive. Know that we are the first generation who were born and raised in a chemical filled world. Shop at your local farmers market. Visit your local farms. Try other exercise options available to you. Remember, you’re doing this for yourself! Keep in touch. I do care.

It’s a shame that we are all getting so sick! I can’t help thinking it’s all the poisons “they” have put in our foods, drinks, environment, water, soil, etc. Yep, they poisoned us for their own profits & now we pay the price. Hope the yogurt ban works. It has helped me.

I would have to suggest to you that you try to eliminate the yogurt. I even use water for my homemade granola! I’ve tried lactaide brand dairy, but that still causes problems. The best I can say is the lactaide dairy products helps with the stomach cramps but still leaves digestive issues in the bathroom. I don’t think I have troubles as severe as yours & wish I could have better advice. For years after diagnosing myself of being lactose intolerant I was able to consume yogurt, now even that has changed! 🙁 It’s a small price to pay to feel better!

Well, I just wrapped up an Easter dinner sans gluten, lactose, fruits, & veggies! Go figure! 🙁 Can’t say I’m happy about it, but I sure am determined to stay away from anything that MIGHT be the culprit of my inner problems. I will even admit that I didn’t overeat! WoW! That’s a milestone! Anyway, I don’t think I’m going to go thru the digestive tests the Dr. is recommending. I just don’t think I can go thru them anymore. I guess it’s my body & I have to feel comfortable with what’s done to me. Anybody been there – done that?
