Feb 4, 2017 · (MAC/MAI) MYCOBACTERIUM AVIUM COMPLEX PULMONARY DISEASE/BRONCHIECTASIS in MAC & Bronchiectasis

I experienced and experience the same symptoms as your mom Michelle. I started losing weight and I didn’t have it to lose. I continue to struggle with fatigue and trying to maintain the 89 lbs I now weigh. I used to weigh 105. My docs told me the same thing regarding regaining my strength and hopefully putting on some weight. Was your mom on antibiotics while in the hospital? The antibiotics destroyed my stomach and I now have SIBO and am fructose intolerant which makes it even more difficult to eat. If she doesn’t have SIBO there are healthy diets that can help her hopefully gain weight. I will keep your mom in my daily prayers.

Which doc do you see at the Jacksonville Mayo? I see Leventhal. I am interested in asking him about the tobramycin-nebulizer and see if he thinks I could tolerate.

Hi Julie, I am curious about your reference to having DNA testing for best medication. Were you tested to find out the medications that might harm you and those your body could handle? I ask because I have so many allergies.

Jan 19, 2017 · MAC AND GERD in MAC & Bronchiectasis

Hi Friends,
I have been reading posts regarding MAC, acid reflux and GERD. I too have suffered with what I thought was acid reflux. Mayo conducted many, many tests and yes GERD is problematic. I was put on those horrible drugs for years and this was causing more of the problem. I found out I my acids needed for proper digestion was low due to these drugs. I found a group and Dr. Norm that has helped me get off these drugs and I feel so much better regarding this area. FAST TRACT DIET, Dr. Norm Rollibard. FODMAP diet is also another diet you may want to check out. Certain carbs can cause use to have acid reflux. I am treating my SIBO and GERD via the recommendations and have been off the drugs now for 9 months ( weaned my body off the drug I was using).I rarely take one tum. These drugs can also cause us to fall susceptible to pneumonia. Maintenance is key. You may want to check them out.
