My only symptoms were heart palpitations and starting to black out which I never did…My heart doctor upped my metoprolol to two 50mg plus 5mg Lisinipril in the morning and one 50mg metoprolol at night plus I have to make sure that I drink plenty of water as that seems to make a difference…I am 82

I have a niece who is in her late 40's that has had multiple brain surgeries/treatment since a child and still doing well…also a friend in her 80's just diagnosed with brain tumor cancer and is doing well with some on going treatment…This is in Washington state and Oregon. There is hope. You need to talk with someone..this waiting by yourself is too hard on a person. I don't know their particulars, but wanted to give you encouragement.
Wow. You are a very inspiring young lady!
I have been on Simvastatin 40mg for several years without any side effects. My heart doctor says the statins have almost put him out of business! Meaning they work so well…I do have a blood test each year. I understand there are several brands and some don't work and/or can cause problems, but working with your doctor should ease your mind…
I'm sure there are all manners of HCM…I am 81 and have only been on medication for it for 3 or 4 years. The muscle of my heart has enlarged as I understand it so that it is restricting the blood flow. The medication helps this. The doctor said I was born with this and nothing I could have done to prevent it. Your sons case may be different. It is good to find out as much as you can. It is my understanding that usually it can be managed. Hope this helps a little.
I share your frustration and awe that no professional seems to care enough to respond and at least explain your options. I guess we just keep pushing until someone finally talks to us and lets us know if we have something to worry about or not…You are not alone in your frustrations…
