Dec 28, 2018 · white sputum not going away for years in Infectious Diseases

@sultan….have just read this one message that you sent asking Re white sputum. Am wondering as mentioned by Colleen if you have been to Drs for it? Am not familiar with the meds you mentioned….where do you live?
I have lots of mostly white mucus…….mine no doubt is from several things. I was diagnosed with chronic rhinnorhea….am supposed to irrigate nose several times a day with saline. I also use Flonase nose spray twice a day…steroid anti inflammatory…..folllowed by anti histamine nose spray….Azelestine…..I take Allegra 180mg…..singulaire…..was allergy tested….now getting desensitization shots for molds and dust.
I also have severe Gerd….so I minimize my fluid intake and follow dietary restrictions and do not sleep on right side. And take antacid meds.

@jweisser ….sounds like your medical people are listening to you….ordering tests to narrow down the cause of fatigue….one additional and sorta easy test might be blood test…to rule out anemia…and also TSH…to see if your thyroid is hypoactive. tdrell

@america….another name for lonsodium is hyponatremia…..I just googled it….two more questions….how do your kidneys function? Are you getting immune globulin treatment?? You really need the condition investigated. Tdrell

@jasmine321 ….I am curious what criteria your pulmonologist uses to start treatment for NTM. Because my local ID doctors would have rushed to put me on the triple antibiotic meds with one positive culture, my ID doc at NJH saw no indication for treatment. I asked her what I should say to local docs. She said the gold standard to consider Rx is 2 positive sputum cultures and CT scan showing bronchiectasis. Tdrell44
