Hello @amysue77777. I am not very good at using this application and therefore I just saw your post. First of all, your brother is lucky to have a sister who is as determined as you are. My experiences with dealing with doctors and medical institutions have been most successful if I emphatically express an appropriate sense of urgency. Is the absolute best that Mayo can do is an appointment in December?
Were you given time to adequately describe your brother’s declining status? If December is the absolute best they can do…then obviously you must accept that. The good news is that they are a world class institution and you will have given your brother his best shot at extending his life.
Hello Colleen, Thanks for asking about my status. I have pancreatic cancer, stage 4B, with metastasis to the liver. After 6 chemo sessions with Abraxane and Gemcitabine, the tumors in the pancreas and liver have shrunk and my CA19-9 tumor marker test has come down from over 300 to 36. Only significant side effect has been hair loss. I was able to enjoy the summer spending lots of time on my boat at a lake in the Adirondacks of NY. Next CT scan is Monday…praying for continued good news.
I am very glad to hear of the 7% reduction and that your blood
markers continue to fall. Trying to keep up with a 2 year old while battling cancer certainly presents you with a full plate. I admire your stamina…keep up the good work!
It is the 1st I heard I had cancer. As I was feeling great, it came as a complete surprise. It was discovered during imaging tests for kidney stones. The tumor is in the tail of the pancreas so I still feel great…even though it has spread to my liver.
